Ioannis Polizogopoulos Obituary

In Loving Memory of

Ioannis Polizogopoulos
“ John the Greek”

January 28, 1947 - March 25, 2024

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, John Polizogopoulos, affectionately known as "John the Greek," who departed from us on March 25, 2024, at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane at the age of 77.

John was a force of nature—a beacon of strength, kindness, and boundless generosity. His spirit knew no bounds, and his legacy of selflessness touched the lives of many. To him, no act of giving was too small or too big, and he would readily offer the shirt off his back to a stranger in need.

With a contagious sense of humor and an infectious personality, John filled every room he entered with warmth and joy. His unique wit and zest for life were truly one of a kind, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, forever etched in the hearts of his sons, Kostas Polizogopoulos, Albertos (Faye) Polizogopoulos and his beloved grandchildren, Jack and Melina.

John was the beloved son of the Late Kostas-Dinos and Theodora (nee Copana) Polizogopoulos of the Peloponnese region of Greece.

John was a cherished brother to the late Pandalis Polizogopoulos, Vachos (late Dimitris) Tsigouris, Panagiotis (Eleftheria) Polizogopoulos, Effi (Vasilis) Melios, and his brother-in-law Sotiris(late Toula) Thanou. He will be dearly missed by all his nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his family, John will be fondly remembered by his dear and loved family friend Sandra Gravel and her family, as well as his best of friends, Tom Zegouras of Belleville, ON, and Thanasis Milonas of Greece.

In accordance with his wishes, a small & private celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor and commemorate John’s remarkable journey and the profound impact he had on those who knew him. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched.

Rest in peace, dear John. Your legacy of love, laughter and generosity will live on eternally.

Memorial donations may be made to the Snowarama (Kiwanis Club) or the Canadian Cancer society and would be greatly appreciated.
