Miss Janet Ann Richards
November 7, 1941 – March 16, 2019
It is with great sadness that her family announces her passing on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the Anson General Hospital, at the age of 77 years. Janet is survived by her sister-in-law Louise Richards of Sarnia, ON, her nieces Candice Richards of Wallaceburg, ON and Leslie (Kris) Potter of Ilderton, ON and her great niece and nephew Kalia and Kye. She is also survived by her numerous friends, students, colleagues as well as her Trinity United Church and St. Marks Anglican Church families.
She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Minnie Richards (nee Roger-Bonn-Campbell-Stephen), and her brother Tom.
Janet was very involved in her community. She spent her career as a teacher at Iroquois Falls Secondary School, was an avid curler, and coach. She was a pillar of the Iroquois Falls community choir and very active with the Boy Scouts of Canada at both the district and regional levels. She will be sorely missed as the organist of both Trinity United Church and St. Mark’s Anglican Church, and in her capacity as matriarch of the Trinity United Church lunches.
There will be a Celebration of her Life at Trinity United Church with Laura Hutchison, The Reverend Patricia Dorland and Deacon Norma Teigan officiating at a date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Trinity United Church memorial fund or to the St. Mark’s Anglican Church memorial fund and would be appreciated by the family.
