Cecilia Marie MacMillan
The family announces with sadness her passing on Tuesday, September 12 in the presence of her family at Sunnybrook’s Palliative Care unit in Toronto. She was in her 95th year.
She was predeceased by husband Thomas Carlyle, her parents Ambrose and Marie Corcoran and sisters Clare and Marion. Survived by brothers Raymond (Mary), Ted (Joan), Jack (Joan) sister Margaret (Mike) Hawrylow and Peter (Kevin) Corcoran.
She will be forever missed by her children Tom (Sandy), Bruce (Sylvia) and Anne Cogdon (Vince). She was adored by her grandchildren Deanna, Heather and Michael and fondly remembered by Jalynn, Kelley, Michael, John & Kate. She had eight great-grandchildren.
Cec was resilient, kind and had a calming presence. She was a 60 year volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society and was active in many charities and organizations in her home town of Iroquois Falls. She was a life-long learner who filled her days with various pursuits.
The family is very grateful for the care provided to our mother while she was at Donway Place, Meighen Manor and the Sunnybrook Palliative Care unit.
Family and friends may call at Abitibi Funeral Services on Friday, September 15 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 16 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Léo Rancourt presiding. Interment in the Abitibi Cemetery followed by a reception in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
